President Donald Trump is done messing around and plans to make a major immigration decision that could change everything.
Speaking exclusively with The Daily Caller, Trump is gearing up to use the Insurrection Act to remove illegal immigrants from the United States.
Several senior administration officials told The DC that Trump intends to invoke the “tremendous powers” of the act to remove illegal aliens from the nation.
“We’re doing the Insurrection Act,” one official said.
Here’s more from The DC on what Insurrection Act and how the Trump administration plans to use it:
Under the Insurrection Act of 1807, the president has the authority to use the National Guard and military in order to combat “unlawful obstruction or rebellion” within U.S. borders.
The act was last invoked in 1992 by George H.W. Bush to quell the Los Angeles riots, and was also used by Eisenhower in 1957 to enforce school desegregation in the south.
An official expressed concerns that Trump’s use of the act’s powers would face legal challenges, pointing to the lawsuits against the president’s travel ban from majority-Muslim countries. However, as the official noted, the travel ban ultimately prevailed in the Supreme Court.
The president is also considering declaring the country full and arguing that the U.S. can no longer handle the massive influx of illegal immigrants.
“If you take a ship and it holds 1,000 people maximum — one more person and the ship is going to collapse,” the official explained. “The country is full.”
“Our hospitals are full, our detention centers are full,” they added.
A new report reveals that U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents at the U.S.-Mexico border were overwhelmed in April.
CBP detained 109,144 migrants at America’s southern border in April, the highest number of apprehensions in 12 years and a 6 percent increase from March.
With several migrant caravans crashing into the U.S.-Mexico border in recent months, Trump continues to take action.
Last month, the president ordered the Department of Defense to send thousands of additional American troops to the southern border over the next two months to help assist border patrol with the migrant crisis.
Defense Department officials reportedly said the White House wants 9,000 to 10,000 more U.S. forces heading to the border over the next few months.
The fragmentary order, or FRAGO, is a collection of documents used by U.S. military planners that add new plans to an existing mission or when there is a change from a previous order.
It was also reported that Trump is considering releasing detained migrants into Democratic-controlled sanctuary cities.
Customs and Border Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security have been experiencing an unprecedented wave in migration from Central America.
There’s a crisis at the border, and Trump continues to take serious action to combat it.
